Acoustic performers, visual artist, poets, ect

Talented/original bands from our city, poets, Dj's, crafts, live painters, and all that reflects artistic expression. This is and event for the artistic community and for all of those who appreciate it.

The event will be held at Churchills Pub on Saturday April 28th. The outside stage will carry an "open mic format". We want to invite poets, and acoustic performers to come and express themselves. All interested must send us their name so that they can be put on the Performer's Guest List. You will have 15 to 20 minutes (depending on the waiting list) to share your material to the attendees.

We're also looking for live painters, and people in film to participate in the event. There's a big projector/dvd player available. Just send us your name.

Here's a little New`Wave/Punk history from Miami.

The first New Wave/Punk club in the 305 was Flynn's Ocean 71 on 71st and Collins Ave.

Inside of a run downed hotel,much like the Kitchen,it too sported an outdoor pool area to hang out at,but the pools water was even dirtier then that at the Kitchen/Esplanade Hotel, I'm talking toxic waste,it was used more as a urinal than a pool.

The place was more punk than anything, nothing like the king of alternative clubs,Fire and Ice.

I am looking for club promoters

Hi,
I was wondering if you would like to visit our place here on Biscayne Bay (Haulover yacht basin) in Bal Harbour.

We have a night club large enough for 3000 people and it is sectioned into rooms. So even a party of 300 is good to go in one room. We have three different rooms that can be divided up with differeing sounds and DJ's.

Have many night open. The weekends are usually diffuicult to open for a new promoter but maybe we can do something.

The thing is, I love this scene and the creativity and culture that comes with being part of it. The music, the community, the parties, the crazy burning man inspired fashion... I love it. I'm wondering if there is anything like it in Miami.. or if Miami has its own cool underground scene. Are breaks big in Miami.. is there a group of burners out there???

I'm a writer who is looking to do my writing somewhere warm Oct-March/Apr. Also into the idea of learning how to build some alternative housing, but maybe this isn't the place to post that part of what I'm looking for. Anyway, there's a possibility I will wind up in Miami, and when I look around for housing, I see all these neighborhood names, and I can't really tell where I want to be. I mean, in NY I know what every neighborhood is like, and it's easy to figure out where I'd want to be, where friends might like to live if they moved here. But it's hard to figure out for a place you don't know much about. Where would artsy types live? Where's cheap and safe? Where don't you need a car?

When I first created this tribe I wasn't sure of anyway to connect people soldily through the use of a internet. Well that has changed. Looking for a venue

I'm looking for a venue in Miami where I can video tape the performance of several bands and DJs over two days. Any thoughts?

It can be a club or soundstage. We are totally open to bringing in our own equipment if necessary, but would prefer to find a place that at least has a PA system.

Sierra Club and Beer (part of Greendrinks International) is a great way to learn about environmental issues that effect us in Miami and South Florida, and is a fun way to meet people who care about and are involved with the environment. Sierra Club and Beer takes place the third Tuesday of every month, starting at 6:00 pm, at Titanic Brewery (5813 Ponce De Leon Blvd Coral Gables, FL 33146-2422). The August meeting takes place on the 16th. We will be discussing the book Don’t Think of an Elephant! Know Your Values and Frame the Debate by George Lakoff.

Each month’s gathering features a different environmental topic or fun activity with plenty of opportunity for socializing and interaction. All this, plus you’ll get a FREE BEER just for showing up!

FREE Drinks and Entrance to new club!

Torero is a new club that recently opened below Hard Rock Cafe in Bayside.

The address is 401 Biscayne BLVD.

Im promoting for this friday and anyone that shows up and says that they are from tribe.net they will get in for FREE anytime that you show up.

If you are there from 10 to 11pm you will be able to DRINK for FREE. Thats right! Unlimited FREE drinks (house labels only). Thats for this friday only.

Why go to South Beach were parking is $10 to $20, Club Entrances are $20 minimum. Or even the Grove were Parking is $5 minimum and the club prices are $10 to $20.

Torero parking is $5 but you can park in front of bayside for $3. And the entrance is FREE, and you cant beat FREE Drinks from 10pm to 11pm.

The music is a combination of Bongos and La Covacha. The place looks really nice inside. Go check out picks at their website: www.toreromiami.com.

2/15: Grand Buffet plays at I/O

This rap duo is from Pittsburgh, and they are incredible... very funny! I first saw them when they opened for Wesley Willis when he played Ft. Lauderdale in 2002-ish, and also caught them at a Clematis Street gig last August.

They'll evidently be at I/O on Sunday night, according to the website and mailing list. It's a good night for a show, as many folks have the following day off for Dead Imperialists Day.

So, whaddya say? Shall we get the first "miami underground" gathering going?

In an effort to save as much money as humanly possible I am trying to find some cheap, or preferably free, places to go with my friends. Aventura and Lincoln Road charge through the nose for everything, I'm too young for alcohol drinking club fun, and Bayside has a way of letting me down.

Thursday: The Juliana Theory

Tomorrow night, Juliana Theory is playing at The Culture Room in Fort Lauderdale. I haven't seen them play live yet, but the one album I have by them (Emotion Is Dead)is pretty good.

I know at least one other "miami underground" Triber besides myself is going, so maybe we can get a group thing happening. (I won't be showing up until 11:00 or so; rehearsal in south beach).

The Culture Room is at 3045 N. Federal Highway (just south of Oakland Park Blvd. in FTL). If you're thinking of checking it out, post here so that a lookout can be kept for you. Hope to see some of you there!
